The Medical Microbiology department conducts diagnostic research on infectious diseases. SLS detects various microorganisms in patient samples (blood, urine, feces, smears, biopsy, cerebrospinal fluid, PCR swabs) to identify the cause of infections. Our team communicates results to the treating physicians, providing guidance on treatments and further diagnostics.
SLS conducts various tests based on clinical requests, including bacterial, yeast, or fungal cultures with antibiotic sensitivity testing, parasite detection through microscopy, molecular techniques like PCR, serological testing for microorganism exposure, and tests for microorganism antigens. The microbiology department follows ISO15189 and NVMM standards, led by specialized technicians and overseen by a registered Clinical Microbiologist. All tests undergo International Quality Control Programs.
