How do I obtain my lab results?

You can obtain your results by visiting the Patient Portal. While registering please give our personnel your email address and ask them to sign you up for the Patient Portal, or if you already visited us, but did not register send a request to ppa@sls.sx with your photo id to sign up for the Patient Portal.

The results of routine test are electronically reported to your doctor in most cases on the day of the blood collection, but at the latest within one week. However, there are some tests, such as DNA test, or pathology test which require more time because these tests are done in other labs abroad. The results of this type of tests can take between 14 days up to a month.

Preparation Blood Collection

Do you have to go to the laboratory to withdraw blood? Then please read the following tips carefully:

Tips:

•After receiving the lab request form from your doctor, please carefully read the form. This may include instructions that are of interest to you, for example; whether you need to be “fasting” before the test.

•“Fasting”: means that the patient has not consumed any calories for a minimum of 8 hours. The patient may only drink water up until the time of blood collection.

•If you use medicines, you can take them as you are used to, unless your doctor has agreed to do anything else with you.

•If you need material for the examination, for example a tube for the 24-hour urine collection, you can obtain it from one of the phlebotomy centers.

•If your doctor requested a “test” which requires you to collect the sample yourself (e.g. 24-hour urine or stool), please click on “patient information folder” for more information.

When visiting any of the phlebotomy centers, please bring the following items with you:

•Lab form (filled in by a doctor)

•Insurance card

•Valid ID

•Sample (if applicable e.g. 24-hour urine)

If you are uninsured, SLS N.V. accepts the following forms of payment:

•Cash

•Debit Card (Maestro)

•Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.)

Did you know that some test requests are not covered by your insurance?

The Laboratory (or the doctor) may require you to go to SZV to get a stamp of approval for a particular test (or group of tests). Once the laboratory receives the stamped laboratory request form, these “special tests” can be offered.

Do you have to submit material to the laboratory?

Body material, such as urine or stool, can be delivered to any phlebotomy location. Please include the laboratory form along with your ID card and Insurance card. The employees at the phlebotomy center can then label your material with the correct information for further testing.

The opening hours of the phlebotomy locations are:

The employees at the phlebotomy centers will do everything to help you as quickly as possible. However, waiting times are not always preventable. It may happen that a patient who has reported later than you, are called in earlier because this patient is a school child, a pregnant lady coming in for a glucose tolerance test (GTT) or a returned patient.  We apologize for any inconveniences and ask for your understanding.
